On Friday, June 17th, Black River Memorial Hospital held a Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC). RTTDC teaches a team approach to the initial care and resuscitation of trauma patients in a concise, systematic approach in a small rural hospital. The course is unique in its recognition of resources of material and personnel in a rural hospital. Twenty-seven people attended the course, including emergency room physicians and nurses, respiratory therapists, nurse anesthetists, radiology and lab technicians, and EMTs from Black River Falls.
Carl Lash, Emergency Department Manager at Black River Memorial Hospital, said, “Educating our staff is so important to providing excellent care for our patients. This collaborative effort between local EMTs and our staff helps us to provide quality care for our rural area.”
