Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)

An electrocardiogram, better known as an EKG, is a test that measures the heart’s electrical activity.

Simple and painless, an EKG helps your medical provider understand how fast your heart is beating, determine if its rhythm is steady or irregular and how strong your heart is.

Tiny electrodes are attached in multiple locations on your skin and the results are immediately measured.

EKGs are especially useful in evaluating whether someone has had a heart attack.
