Nuclear Medicine
In a nuclear medicine test, small amounts of radioactive tracers are used to help obtain images from within the body. Physicians can interpret the results to assist in diagnosing disease and illness at early stages.
The duration of the test depends on what organ is being checked, ranging from as little as 30 minutes to several hours or days.
Many patients prefer a nuclear medicine test to exploratory surgery as it is less expensive and is essentially pain-free.
