SOCIAL WORKER

Join our growing Patient and Family Services department!  Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Social Worker in the Patient and Family Services department.  This is a full time, benefited position working 72 hours per pay period.  The Social Worker works as part of the total health care team to help meet the social, economic and emotional needs of patients and their families during hospitalization and provides for appropriate planning to ensure these needs are adequately met after discharge.

Essential Duties:

  • Receives consults from multidisciplinary team based on admission assessment, patient/family requests, physicians orders, participation in the multidisciplinary discharge planning meetings and outside hospitals.  Identifies patients in need of discharge planning during the multidisciplinary meeting.
  • Provides education and assistance with advance care planning or POLST (Physician Orders for Treatment) for hospital patients and community members.  Refers for legal guardianship and/or protective placements when a patient has been deemed incompetent.
  • Maintains standards of Social Work excellence in accordance with standards set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, National Association of Social Work, the Joint Commission, and the policies and procedures of the hospital.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in social work or related field.
  • 1-2 years related experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Current social work certification from the State of Wisconsin.

NURSE INTERN

Black River Memorial Hospital has four immediate openings for Nurse Interns in our Med/Surg and OB department.  The intern positions work one or two days a week for a total of 24 hours per pay period working either day or evening shifts.  Nurse Interns perform supportive services and direct and indirect patient care.  Organizes and coordinates efficient delivery of care as delegated by the Registered Nurse. 

Essential Duties:

  • Provides patient care commensurate with educational preparation following nursing and medical orders as delegated by the RN.
  • Recognizes changes in signs and symptoms and promptly reports patient's condition to the RN.
  • Incorporates patient teaching in the patient plan of care.

HOUSEKEEPER

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for two Housekeepers in our Environmental Services department.  Both are full time, benefited positions, working 80 hours per pay period.  The day shift position works five days a week and every sixth weekend.  The evening shift works 3:00pm-11:00pm five days a week and every sixth weekend 4:00pm-12:00pm.  The housekeeper performs all room cleaning operations within hospital property as directed.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepares and cleans various types of rooms and floors following specified department protocols and standards.
  • Cleans critical areas such as surgery, delivery rooms, exam rooms and isolation areas following specific protocols.
  • Uses safe methods when handling chemicals and cleaning solutions in daily work practice.

Qualifications:

  • Basic reading and comprehension skills required.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST/MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician in our Lab department. This is a full time, benefited position, working 80 hours per pay period 11:00am-7:30pm. The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for the collection and processing of specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and accurate and timely reporting of test results.

Essential Duties:

  • Reads, analyzes and interprets common scientific and technical journals, manuals and procedures.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely specimen procurement and handling.
  • Provides quality service for all aspects of the pre-analytic phase of test performance (reagent, specimen, quality control materials, products and supply preparation, understanding procedures).
  • Provides quality service for all aspects of the post-analytic phase of test performance (remedial and corrective action, documentation).

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college in medical technology or clinical laboratory science or Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology or qualified or could have qualified as a Technologist under laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538)
  • Must meet the CLIA 88 Testing Personnel qualification requirements for a Moderate and High Complexity Testing Laboratory.
  • One year training/experience in high complexity testing; or equivalent combination or education and experience or qualified as a technologist under laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538).

REGISTERED NURSE- Med/Surg Department

Black River Memorial Hospital has two immediate openings for Registered Nurses in our Medical Surgical Department.

Both open positions are night shift working either part time or full time, 56 and 72 hours per period respectively. Night-time bonus with 3 years experience. Both positions are benefited.

Essential Duties:

  • Evaluates patient assessments and responses to interventions and takes appropriate action according to established standards.
  • Accurately and effectively utilizes the patient acuity system to anticipate changes in patient care needs.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Associates degree in Nursing or Diploma RN. BSN preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS within 1- year.
  • NRP (OB and Resource)
  • Current licensed Wisconsin RN.

NURSE PRACTITIONER

Join our team!

Are you a Nurse Practitioner that is looking for a position that offers a great work-life balance or the opportunity to be home 20 days out of the month? Black River Memorial Hospital is looking for two Nurse Practitioners to join our Hospitalist team in our Medical/Surgical department.

Our open part time position is 25 hours a week, Monday-Friday 9am-2pm and benefits eligible and our full time position works 7pm-9am for the first through the tenth day of every month and benefit eligible.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides appropriate medical services to all patients who are assigned
  • Assists hospital with the appropriate medical assessment, treatment and timely discharge of patients admitted to hospital for observation.
  • Works diligently with primary care physician/provider for a seamless transition from outpatient to hospital care with an accurate and timely discharge summary.
  • Complies with the requirements and standards of Medical, The Joint Commission and any other accrediting agencies designated as well as all applicable laws, rules and regulations.

Education Requirements:

  • Current Wisconsin license as an Advanced Practice Nurse
  • Current DEA number and/or Nurse Practitioner Prescribing License
  • Advanced Cartiac Life Support (ACLS) certified

CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER, LCSW - Palliative Care

Homecare/Hospice Department

A Clinical Social Worker, LCSW position is now available at Black River Memorial Hospital. This position is 8 hours per pay period, day shift hours.

Duties include helping to meet the social, economic and emotional needs of patients and their families. A member of the Palliative Care Team, which includes making home visits.

Qualifications include:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work with LCSW or working toward their LCSW
  • 2-3 years related experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Current social work licensure from the State of Wisconsin
