PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN

Black River Memorial Hospital is looking for two Patient Care Technicians to join our Medical/Surgical team.  Our Patient Care Technicians (PCT) provide supportive services and direct and indirect patient care.  The PCT organizes and coordinates efficient delivery of care under the supervision of an RN.

Our open part time position is a pm shift working 40 hours per pay period, benefited.  Our per diem position is 7a-7p every third weekend on the day shift.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides patient care following nursing and medical orders as delegated by the RN.
  • Recognizes changes in signs and symptoms and promptly reports patient's condition to the RN.
  • Accurately documents according to established standards.
  • Successfully performs all Patient Care Technician core skills performed under the direct supervision of the RN, safely and according to policy and procedure.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant.

NURSE PRACTITIONER OR PHYSICIAN'S ASSISTANT

Don't miss this opportunity to join our Specialty Services team!  Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant.  This is a part time position working every fourth weekend.  The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner evaluates and treats patients of all ages with minor medical, surgical and emergency conditions. This position completes patient assessments, orders and interprets diagnostic tests and completes or prescribes treatments under the supervising Emergency Department Physician.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner educational program
  • Current, valid, unrestricted license from the State of Wisconsin; current board certification from NCCPA for PA or current board certification from ANCC, ANA, or AANP for NP must be achieved within 18 months of hire; and current unrestricted DEA
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience required.  Urgent Care, Emergency, and Primary Care Experience preferred.

Essential Duties:

  • Assesses patients of all ages presenting for health care and obtains a personal medical history, appropriate physical examination and completes documentation of same. Patient contacts may include but are not limited to Urgent Care, Emergency, Department of Correction, Occupational Health and Hospital employees.
  • Performs orders and interprets diagnostic test and patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. (I.e. ECG, x ray, etc.)
  • Functions independently as situations arise according to collaborative agreement with supervising physician
  • Documents or dictates articulate and concise patient care information for the physician and medical record.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Join our growing Rehabilitation Services department.  Black River Memorial Hospital is looking for a part time Physical Therapist in our Rehab department to assist with outpatient services.  This is a part time, day shift, 40 hour per pay period position that is benefited.  The Physical Therapist plans, evaluates, and administers physical therapy treatment to patients within the scope of their licensure.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts occupational therapy evaluations.
  • Develops prognosis and plan of care.
  • Conducts discharge planning.
  • Selects and administers appropriate interventions.
  • Provides supervision of assistants and rehabilitation department support staff.

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST/MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician in our Lab department. This is a full time, benefited position, working 80 hours per pay period 11:00am-7:30pm. The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for the collection and processing of specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and accurate and timely reporting of test results.

Essential Duties:

  • Reads, analyzes and interprets common scientific and technical journals, manuals and procedures.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely specimen procurement and handling.
  • Provides quality service for all aspects of the pre-analytic phase of test performance (reagent, specimen, quality control materials, products and supply preparation, understanding procedures).
  • Provides quality service for all aspects of the post-analytic phase of test performance (remedial and corrective action, documentation).

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college in medical technology or clinical laboratory science or Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology or qualified or could have qualified as a Technologist under laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538)
  • Must meet the CLIA 88 Testing Personnel qualification requirements for a Moderate and High Complexity Testing Laboratory.
  • One year training/experience in high complexity testing; or equivalent combination or education and experience or qualified as a technologist under laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538).

REGISTERED NURSE- Med/Surg Department

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Registered Nurse in our Medical Surgical Department.

This position is a weekend, night shift working full time, 72 hours per period but will be paid for 80 hour per pay period.  The Registered Nurse can have two weekends off during the six month contract.  This is a benefited position. 

Essential Duties:

  • Evaluates patient assessments and responses to interventions and takes appropriate action according to established standards.
  • Accurately and effectively utilizes the patient acuity system to anticipate changes in patient care needs.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Associates degree in Nursing or Diploma RN.  BSN preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS within 1- year.
  • NRP (OB and Resource)
  • Current licensed Wisconsin RN.

Duties include helping to meet the social, economic and emotional needs of patients and their families. A member of the Palliative Care Team, which includes making home visits.

Qualifications include:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work with LCSW or working toward their LCSW
  • 2-3 years related experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Current social work licensure from the State of Wisconsin
