BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE CLINICAL INFORMATICS NURSE

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Clinical Informatics Nurse in our Business Intelligence department.  This is a full time, benefited position, working 80 hours per pay period.  The Clinical Informatics Nurse assists integrates nursing, computer science and information management to manage data, information and knowledge within the clinical departments.  This position is also responsible for specific tasks associated with the implementation, training and maintenance of clinical application systems within Black River Memorial Hospital.

Essential Duties:

  • Insures clinical needs are evaluated and validated when implementation plans are developed by collecting input from end users.
  • Assess the implications on nursing operations and processes of patient care delivery when assisting in resolution of departmental issues.
  • Trains clerical staff (including providers) in proper use of clinical applications.
  • Works closely with the project sponsor, project leader and analyst throughout clinical system implementations.
  • Is proficient in the operations of the suite of clinical applications as new systems are installed and existing systems are upgraded.
  • Assists in live conversion plans for new and upgraded systems.

Education Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  BSN required.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin
  • 5 years of experience in clinical setting.  2 years of experience with clinical information systems.
  • Communicates, interprets and critically thinks using nursing perspective.

URGENT CARE NURSE PRACTITIONER/PHYSICIANS ASSISTANT

Don't miss this opportunity to join our Urgent Care team!  Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Assistant.  This is a part time position working 60 hours per pay period on a rotating pm shift.  The Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Assistant evaluates and treats patients of all ages with minor medical, surgical and emergency conditions. This position completes patient assessments, orders and interprets diagnostic tests and completes or prescribes treatments under the supervising Emergency Department Physician.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner educational program
  • Current, valid, unrestricted license from the State of Wisconsin; current board certification from NCCPA for PA or current board certification from ANCC, ANA, or AANP for NP must be achieved within 18 months of hire; and current unrestricted DEA
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience required.  Urgent Care, Emergency, and Primary Care Experience preferred.

Essential Duties:

  • Assesses patients of all ages presenting for health care and obtains a personal medical history, appropriate physical examination and completes documentation of same. Patient contacts may include but are not limited to Urgent Care, Emergency, Department of Correction, Occupational Health and Hospital employees.
  • Performs orders and interprets diagnostic test and patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. (I.e. ECG, x ray, etc.)
  • Functions independently as situations arise according to collaborative agreement with supervising physician
  • Documents or dictates articulate and concise patient care information for the physician and medical record.

EMERGENCY ROOM TECH

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for an Emergency Room Tech.  This is a part time position working 12 hours per pay period totaling 24 hours a month.  The Emergency Room Tech provides supportive services and direct and indirect patient care as well as organizes and coordinates efficient delivery of care under the supervision of registered nurse 

Essential Duties:

  • Provides patient care following nursing and medical orders as delegated by the RN.
  • Documents according to established standards.
  • Recognizes changes in signs and symptoms and promptly reports patient's condition to the RN.
  • Performs and coordinates clerical activities in the department to promote patient focused care.
  • Effectively and appropriately uses emergency room equipment.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant and/or EMT license.
  • BLS certification.

HOMECARE/HOSPICE REGISTERED NURSE

A Registered Nurse position is now available at Black River Memorial Hospital in our Homecare/Hospice department.  This is a part time, benefited position working 64 hours a pay period on the day shift. 

The Registered Nurse plans and provides comprehensive patient care.  Manages available nursing resources and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to provide quality cost effective patient care.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conducts the initial assessment and knowledge of eligibility requirements for admission to the Hospice/Homecare program.
  • Obtains appropriate medical orders in accordance with the Hospice/Homecare plan of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, expertise and skills to competently provide Case Manager Services.
  • Communicates regularly with physician and team members providing information and documentation regarding the physical, psychosocial and spiritual status of the patient and family. Coaches and/or mentors others in how to communicate clearly and concisely; always communicates changes in patient status utilizing the SBAR format.

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Associates degree in Nursing. 
  • Minimum of 1-year nursing experience. 
  • Experience with Hospice and/or Homecare preferred. 
  • Current Wisconsin RN License.

MED/SURG REGISTERED NURSE

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Registered Nurse in our Med/Surg department.  This is a benefited weekend shift working 72 hours per period on our night shift. 

Essential Duties:

  • Evaluates patient assessments and responses to interventions and takes appropriate action according to established standards.
  • Accurately and effectively utilizes the patient acuity system to anticipate changes in patient care needs.
  • Provides individualized patient and family focused care throughout the patient's stay.
  • Initiates effective discharge and referral plans on admission utilizing appropriate hospital and community resources.
  • Participates in patient and family education as evidenced by teaching documentation with appropriate resources.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Associates degree in Nursing or Diploma RN.  BSN preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS within 1- year.

ED PHYSICIAN

Practice Specifics:

  • Six 24 hour ED shifts per month
  • Average 11,000 patients through ED and Urgent Care per year- 2/3 ED and 1/3 Urgent Care
  • Joint Commission accreditation level IV trauma center
  • Family Medicine with ED experience or Emergency Medicine
  • Experienced support staff including RN, HUC, PCTs, Advanced Practice Providers, Social Workers, CRNAs, RTs, and Paramedics
  • Radiology, including CT and MR, and labs available on site

Educational Qualifications:

  • Three years of supervisory and/or management experience required.

  • Develops department goals in conjunction with establishing/implementing/ developing/revising processes policies and procedures for department operations in alignment with the hospital's strategic goals.  Provides leadership, vision, development and implementation of short and long term planning for the organization.
  • Oversees the day-to-day management of department staff and coaches staff and plans for staff succession.
  • Ensures department and employees are in compliance with all regulatory accreditation and licensing agencies by preparing and maintaining pertinent records, reports, statistics, contracts, files and other documents for the department. 
  • Works with department directors and the CFO in managing the annual budget.  Plans, prepares and manages annual financial audit.  Assist other departments in statistics, information, assistance, and guidance in submission of budget.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports and related analyses of income, expenditures, assets and liabilities, with comparisons to both budget and to previous periods.  Makes appropriate recommendations regarding possible methods of increasing revenue or of decreasing deductions from revenue and operating expenses.
  • Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purpose. Supervises the financial reporting to external reporting organizations.

NUTRITION SERVICES DIRECTOR

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) and Certified Food Protection Professionals (CFPP) required.

  • Develops department goals in conjunction with establishing/implementing/ developing/revising processes policies and procedures for department operations in alignment with the hospital's strategic goals.  Provides leadership, vision, development and implementation of short and long term planning for the organization.
  • Oversees the day-to-day management of department staff, coaches staff and plans for staff succession.  Resolves personnel problems.  Selects and hires quality employees.  Coordinates orientation, training, and education for staff.  Schedules work for effective and efficient department operations.
  • Ensures department and employees are in compliance with all regulatory accreditation and licensing agencies by preparing and maintaining pertinent records, reports, statistics, contracts, files and other documents for the department. 
  • Reviews services, billing and other aspects of programs to ensure department is cost effective, productive and compliant.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates financial practices according to established standards.  Plans researches and requests purchases for department capital and operational equipment/supplies.
  • Collaborates with dietitian regarding nutritional needs of patients, quality assurance, quality control studies and policies and procedures.
