Inpatient Meals
Hospital patients receive a selective menu and food preferences are offered. Our goal is to provide Room Service or Meals on Demand to patients and their guests. This service will be implemented in the Obstetrics Department first and then move to the Medical-Surgical area.

Patients will have a restaurant-type menu to choose what they would like to eat. The menu will be planned to accommodate therapeutic diets. Patients will be able to order what they want and meals will be prepared and delivered within 45 minutes of their request. To order food, patients will dial the kitchen directly. For patients who need assistance, our Food Service Clerk will help with menu selections. 

Nutrition Education and Dietetic Consulting Services
A consulting dietitian from Gundersen Lutheran Health System is available at Black River Memorial Hospital on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Nutrition services are provided to inpatients and outpatients with a physician’s referral. Our dietitian is also involved with community nutrition educational programs, such as the Diabetes Fair and Diabetes Support Group. The dietitian works closely with physicians and other members of the medical team to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Meals on Wheels Program
The hospital’s Food Service staff also provides Meals on Wheels in Black River Falls, Monday through Saturday. Approximately 12,000 meals are provided annually to residents within the community service area. The Hospital Café and Cafeteria Services
Visitors and the public are welcome to eat in the hospital cafeteria seven days a week.

Cafeteria Hours:
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Supper: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Services that will be offered when the new Café and Cafeteria dining area is completed will include:

1. Increased seating
2. Expanded menu
3. Daily specials
4. Soup & Salad Bar
5. Outdoor, covered patio open year-round for enjoyment by all customers
6. Bakery items for sale every day in display area
7. Private dining room for meetings, with catering capabilities

In addition, bake sales are held in the hospital cafeteria monthly and Christmas baking is also available during the week before Christmas.
