Many things can cause dizziness and one cause may be with your vestibular system. Systems that make up your balance or equilibrium are: proprioception (which lets a you know where your body is at all times), vision, and the inner ear or vestibular system (your ear-to-brain connection for balance).
The first step to take if you are experiencing dizziness or any of the above symptoms is to see your medical doctor and ask if vestibular rehabilitation or physical therapy could help.
The Rehabilitation Services Department has established a program specifically designed to treat certain conditions associated with dizziness (vertigo) or any of the above symptoms.
A thorough evaluation will be performed and, based on the results, an individualized treatment program will be designed for you.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact the Rehabilitation Services Department at 715-284-1330.
