Witnessing Outstanding Work

Week of 2/18/19

Doug Trautsch, Carpenter; Gary Olson, Housekeeper
"I dropped my keys in the snow in the BRMH parking lot. It was snowing and blowing with new snow...on top of snow...on top of snow etc. There wasn't even a mark in all the snow to reveal where they had dropped. I looked everywhere. I came in and asked for help and went back out with a shovel. Gary and Doug came right over. Gary and I had our cell phone flashlights on and Doug started shoveling. It was only a few minutes before he found them. Thanks you two for your kind help."

Britni Ewing, Nutrition Services Assistant
"It was a very snowy day today - Tuesday 2/12 and our team was missing two team members during the entire day which impacted both shifts. Britni started her shift at 6:00 AM and volunteered to stay and cover for the Café Cashier position works until 7:30P so our team would not be short. This allowed us to provide the level of service to our patients, hospital team members and guests uninterrupted. Britni also assisted with packaging for our big Valentine Bake Sale! Awesome team work...THANKS!

Environmental Services
"I want to recognize the extra effort put in by environmental services. I was shocked when I came in to work today and the sidewalks were completely free of snow! And, one could still make out the lines in the parking lot. The snow removal has been a full-time job recently, and then some! I also want to recognize the staff that keep the hallways and floors free of snow and water. That is no easy task with what Mother Nature has been dishing out. Thank you for all you do."

"On Tuesday, Feb 12 Doug & Dave came up to the 8*th St building late in the day and shoveled our sidewalks and around our cars. They even helped one of our gals to brush the snow off of her car!
While I appreciate all the hard work our ES staff provided, I do think these fellows went above and beyond. I just wanted them to know that we noticed what they did and we really appreciated it."

"I was shadowing the imaging department on a very high acuity day and witnessed seamless teamwork from Mary Jo and her department. They continued to be present with their patients and deliver excellent customer service regardless of the high volume in the department. I was amazed at the willingness to help each other, especially from Mary Jo as she stepped in to help her department. Truly a display of Excellence Always.

Kathy Laudon, Patient and Family Services Director
"When the weather was bad and it was snowing out, Kathy went to the clinic to pick up a patient's medication, who was being discharged, so that the patient could go straight home instead of having to worry about picking up his medications. Kathy did this without being asked to, and the patient was very pleased that she was willing to help out!!

Bart and Ruth talked with the patient and learned the patient was a vegetable gardener and was missing the flavor of fresh spices and peppers he gets from his garden. Bart and Ruth offered the patient food and spice options and invited the pt. to have his meals in the cafeteria. Thanks for taking the time to meet with the patient and finding ways to meet the pt. expectations!"

"When I went down to clean up the spilled milk, after helping Dianna get to the med/surg. floor Cindy was just coming around the corner and saw the milk. She was right on it, she asked me to stand there by the spill so no one would slip on it and went to get a mop and wet floor sign. She was so helpful and friendly and fast about it! I think that she really showed team spirit that day, and every day that I see her."
