Witnessing Outstanding Work

Week of 5/20/19

Samara Clark, OB RN
"There was a patient in labor that decided she wanted to move to a different room, Samara took the time to move all the furniture out of the room she wanted to go into, and moved the patient with the furniture from the room she was in. Samara then called us to finish up the cleaning and to move the clean furniture into the patient's old room. This saved the housekeeping staff time with cleaning. We really appreciate her taking the time to help us out. Thank you so much for all you do, Samara."

Michelle Goetting, Patient & Family Service Social Worker; Brittany Stelpflug, Patient & Family Service Social Worker
"I recently went through some things with my mom and she needed to go to an NH for therapy. When it came time for mom to discharge home, I was left feeling very helpless with the discharge process. I knocked on the door where Michelle and Brittany were sitting and even though they were busy assisting their own patients they were so helpful with my questions and letting me know the process that should be followed. Their 5 minutes to help me meant the world to me (and mom)!"

Jamie Pederson, RN; Rosa Blackdeer, RN
"The whole team provided intensive, compassionate and supportive end of life care. Jamie, RN experienced her first patient death since becoming an RN and it was a very intense one to one situation at the bedside for several hours. Rosa was Lead RN and she and the rest of the team took over her patients, continuously checked on her, brought her the things she needed, and helped keep up on the massive charting for this patient. Rosa organized organ procurement and tons of other post mortem details. Just excellent work!"

Dr. Neil Cox
Dr. Cox has been an amazing addition to the BRMH team in so many ways. Last week, BRMH (in collaboration with the Ho-Chunk Clinic, Krohn Clinic, and Lunda Center) hosted an Advance Directive educational event at the LCC and Dr. Cox was the speaker. He did a wonderful job and his presentation was very well received by the excellent turn out of attendees. Thank you so much, Dr. Cox, for everything you do for our patients and for our community.

Jeff Scheidt, Anesthesia
"Dr. Zimmerman called Jeff in to see a patient. Jeff went to each staff member before leaving and checked with them to see if anything else was needed. I was really impressed with his professionalism and especially the way he thoughtfully checked in with everyone in the room. Thank you, Jeff!"

Emergency Department
"We just wanted to write a note about the excellent performance of your ER Staff. All of my staff were welcomed with open arms for clinical rotations. Your staff made us feel like we were a very important and integral part of the team. Everyone was helpful in teaching and guiding us. We cannot thank them enough for their support then and their continued support as we move prehospital care forward in our area. We look forward to continuing to build on these relationships and work to make healthcare in our community the best it can be. Excellent Work!!!"

Tom Zillmer, Maintenance Mechanic
"I'm so thankful to have Tom as a co-worker, he is so uplifting. On weekends when I work and he is on call for the maintenance department, he always takes the time to take the garbage that I have collected to the dumpster. I so appreciate this because weekends here are so chaotic. Also, he is "Johnny on the spot" during the week, when I tell him I need something fixed he is always stepping up and fixing it for me. Kudos to Tom. He makes my day."

Mark Thompson, Diagnostic Imaging CT-X-Ray Tech
"It was a very busy ED shift and all rooms were full in both ED and Urgent Care. Mark was very helpful to us by answering call lights and getting refreshments and asking if he could help any other way. We didn't ask him to do these things, he just took it upon himself to help out. Thank you, Mark, we appreciated all your help!"

Stefan Spegman, RN; Darin Lash, Physician Assistant
"I received a phone call from a patient's caregiver this morning and she was very thankful and appreciative of the care that the patient received from Stefan and Darin during his visit to the ED. She said that he was finally able to sleep this morning. She had wanted to call to convey this message to them. Way to go, guys!"

Mary Reichenbach, RN
"I have learned so much from Mary and I cannot even start to say how well we work together. She reminds me that "not finding a disease process that is bad" - is a good thing for the patient, for example, when I think it is coronary artery disease and the troponins and the EKG are normal - it's a good thing, costochondritis is better than an MI. Also, some patients need to hold a paper in their hand to tell them that things are good - so printing off results helps these folks and she helps me do that."

He personally acknowledged Dr. Martin and Dr. Boardman. He said he appreciated their teamwork and expertise in treating him while he was sick. Mark Nordahl, HME Driver/Service Technician
"Thank you so much to Mark for helping me out of a snow bank! I had a meeting at B-Home and pulled a little too far ahead and my front tires went down into deeper snow and there I sat spinning my tires. Mark happened to be out shoveling and asked if he could give it a try and sure enough by pulling more forward (I was worried I would sink deeper) and backing up a few times he was able to get me out. He really made my day! Thank you so much!"

Doug Trautsch, Carpenter; Gary Olson, Housekeeper
"I dropped my keys in the snow in the BRMH parking lot. It was snowing and blowing with new snow...on top of snow...on top of snow etc. There wasn't even a mark in all the snow to reveal where they had dropped. I looked everywhere. I came in and asked for help and went back out with a shovel. Gary and Doug came right over. Gary and I had our cell phone flashlights on and Doug started shoveling. It was only a few minutes before he found them. Thanks you two for your kind help."

Britni Ewing, Nutrition Services Assistant
"It was a very snowy day today - Tuesday 2/12 and our team was missing two team members during the entire day which impacted both shifts. Britni started her shift at 6:00 AM and volunteered to stay and cover for the Café Cashier position works until 7:30P so our team would not be short. This allowed us to provide the level of service to our patients, hospital team members and guests uninterrupted. Britni also assisted with packaging for our big Valentine Bake Sale! Awesome team work...THANKS!

Environmental Services
"I want to recognize the extra effort put in by environmental services. I was shocked when I came in to work today and the sidewalks were completely free of snow! And, one could still make out the lines in the parking lot. The snow removal has been a full-time job recently, and then some! I also want to recognize the staff that keep the hallways and floors free of snow and water. That is no easy task with what Mother Nature has been dishing out. Thank you for all you do."

"On Tuesday, Feb 12 Doug & Dave came up to the 8*th St building late in the day and shoveled our sidewalks and around our cars. They even helped one of our gals to brush the snow off of her car!
While I appreciate all the hard work our ES staff provided, I do think these fellows went above and beyond. I just wanted them to know that we noticed what they did and we really appreciated it."
