LIFE AFTER LOSS

These weekly meetings are a time for those who have experienced a loss to share the struggles with others who have experienced similar loss. The goals of this group is to:

  • Help to normalize the intense impacts of grief
  • Provide a safe, non-judgmental space for the griever to share his/her thoughts, emotions and struggles with peers
  • Enable the participant to discover and develop inner and outer resources and learn coping strategies
  • Help participants learn new ways of problem-solving, self-acceptance, self-care, self-compassion and resilience from peers
  • Support participants to search for meaning and purpose in life without the presence of their loved one
  • Protect against isolation and shame in a mourning-avoiding culture
  • Help to build compassionate communities
