The Marketplace will allow you to compare health insurance plans, and depending on your household income and size, and whether you have insurance through your employer, you may qualify for tax subsidies on the Marketplace, to reduce the cost for you and your family.

No- you don't need to do anything if:

You have Medicare

Medicare is not part of the Health Insurance Marketplace established by Affordable Care Act, so you don't have to replace your Medicare coverage with Marketplace coverage.  No matter how you get Medicare, whether through Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage Plan, you'll still have the same benefits and security you have now.

You don't need to do anything with the Marketplace during open enrollment.

You're insured by your employer

You don't need to do anything with the Marketplace during open enrollment. You can keep your current plan.

Maybe- you might need the Marketplace if:

You're on Medicaid (such as Badgercare in Wisconsin)

You will receive a letter explaining your status.

You think your insurance is not affordable
