If you are experiencing acid reflux and heartburn more than twice a week, this may be an indication of GERD, a chronic disease that occurs when stomach acid flows into the food pipe and irritates the lining.

Symptoms include burning pain in the chest that usually occurs after eating and worsens when lying down.

If you’ve been considering depending on over-the-counter heartburn medication, or if you’ve simply been suffering and missing out on your favorite foods, it is time to take action. Give yourself the gift of a heartburn-free life.

Black River Memorial Hospital is proud to offer the TIF procedure, a minimally invasive solution for chronic heartburn. 25 minutes might be all it takes to start enjoying a life without the pain of heartburn. Enjoy yourself again: Make your resolution to end heartburn today.

GERD Fact Sheet

Take the following questionaire to see what your GERD score is.

How is the TIF procedure performed?

The procedure is performed through the patient's mouth and does not require incisions. The surgeon fixes the valve to prevent further acid reflux. Since the procedure is done through the mouth, there are no scars and patients make a quick recovery. Most patients return to work and normal activities within a few days after the procedure.

Even though there are no incisions, the TIF procedure does come with potential risks as with any surgery. Talk to your doctor to see if TIF is right for you.
