BRMH Launches New Foundation - Gifts of Gratitude

Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) recently launched their new foundation, Gifts of Gratitude.

Gifts of Gratitude was founded around providing individuals a formal opportunity to give back in a way meaningful to them. Gifts made to the foundation will directly impact BRMH’s patients and community – enhancing patient experiences in a variety of ways and assisting to offer critical services lines, equipment, and technologies to improve the overall health of the community.

The foundation is the first program of its kind at BRMH and stems from a long, successful history of community giving aimed to enhance local healthcare experiences (ex: Kathy’s Fund, Lidy’s Fund, Scholarships).

A tax-deductible charitable gift to Gifts of Gratitude could give a struggling mother the means to provide diapers for new her baby. It could help a troubled neighbor realize they have so much to live for. It could even grant a last wish to an end-of-life patient. Sandra Reich, RN, has witnessed firsthand just how impactful gifts can be to BRMH patients, “Previous gifts dedicated to end-of-life patients have supported a couple’s last date, travel expenses for out-of-state family members, and even purchased a birthday cake to celebrate a patient’s special day. Being able to facilitate these special moments for our patients and their families in their most vulnerable moments oftentimes impacts them more than we could ever imagine.”

Gifts of Gratitude believes any gift is a gift, whether monetary or in-kind – all gifts are incredibly impactful. Gifts promote a happier, healthier community for generations to come.

To align with the community’s most pressing health needs, donors are welcome to give to the following focus areas - mental health, care at home, technology & innovation, the sustainability of local healthcare, or something highly personal to them.

BRMH’s Director of Growth and Innovation, Miranda Greenwold, played a critical role in developing the foundation and will continue to oversee operations moving forward. “When I first joined BRMH in 2020, launching a foundation was one of my biggest aspirations. BRMH belongs to such a generous community made up of members who thrive off taking care of one another. On behalf of BRMH, it is incredibly rewarding to launch Gifts of Gratitude and now provide those individuals a formal opportunity to impact the health and well-being of Jackson County for generations to come,” expressed Greenwold, whose professional fundraising experience and deep passion for rural healthcare contributed to the successful launch of the foundation.
