CLINIC MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Black River Memorial Hospital is excited to announce an opportunity to join the Black River Memorial Hospital Primary Care and Behavioral Health Clinic team as the Clinic Medical Director.  This position is full-time, exempt, 80 hours per pay period with a generous benefits package. 

The Clinic Medical Director provides oversight and direction of the daily operations of the Black River Memorial Hospital Primary Care and Behavioral Health Clinic. In addition, it works directly with the Clinic Director to ensure the effective management of clinic processes and ancillary staff.  It directly supervises the Clinic Providers to assure safe and best practice operation of the care delivery processes and assist in identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiencies in the delivery of care, productivity, performance improvement and standardization of process.  It also works as a patient care provider evaluating and treating patients.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide appropriate medical services (assess, treat, admit, transfer or discharge) to all patients who seek care in the Black River Memorial Hospital Primary Care and Behavioral Health Clinic. Perform the duties of a primary care physician in an outpatient medical clinic.
    • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury;
    • Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' condition;
    • Follows all existing referral patterns with respect to the referral of patients for specialist care;
    • Uses currently accepted methods and practices of medicine, adheres to applicable standards of care, medical ethics, policies, and protocols.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of department medical provider staff and schedules work to facilitate effective and efficient department operations. Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.   Select and hire quality employees.
  • Investigate and take appropriate timely action(s) to resolve customer concerns, complaints, and problems. Utilize the established customer service recovery process.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for providers. Completes self, peer, and staff annual performance appraisals.  Follows hospital Standards of Conduct and holds staff accountable for meeting the Standards of Conduct.

Education Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Required, Field of Study: Family Medicine
  • Master's Degree in Public Health or Medical/Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical practice required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a medical practice or complex physician organization is required, 5 years is preferred. Leadership experience should include direct management of providers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Medical License in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example, effectively communicates with diverse groups, promote shared accountability, and facilitate change with a clear focus on results.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT PARAMEDIC

Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) has an immediate opening in our Emergency Department for an experienced Critical Care Paramedic. This benefited position is part-time, 48 hours per pay period, work 12 hours/on-call for 12 hours, two days per week or has the option to work 12 hours with no on-call.

As a paramedic at BRMH, you will provide paramedic-level emergency medical care for patients of all ages.  This position functions according to Wisconsin Paramedic Curriculum and functions under the direction of the emergency department nurse or provider.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains up to date knowledge and cares for patients in accordance with department policies, procedures, protocols and scope of practice/job description.
  • Performs various medical procedures under the direction of the Emergency Department nurse or provider.
  • Recognizes serious signs and symptoms and promptly reports the patient’s condition to the emergency department nurse or provider.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT REGISTERED NURSE (Full & Part Time)

Black River Memorial Hospital has 2 immediate openings for Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department.  The positions available are the following:

  • 36 hours per pay period, night shift, every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation, non-benefited.
  • 72 hours per pay period, night shift, every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation, benefited.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides individualized patient and family-focused care throughout the patient’s stay.
  • Evaluates patient assessments and responses to interventions and takes appropriate action according to established standards.
  • Delegates patient care activities to appropriate personnel and maintains accountability for those activities.
  • Initiates effective discharge and referral plans on admission utilizing appropriate hospital and community resources.
  • Accurately and effectively utilizes the patient acuity system to anticipate changes in patient care needs.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Associates degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required. ENPC and TNCC within one year.
  • Current licensed Wisconsin RN.

HOSPITALIST

LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Black River Memorial Hospital is currently seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our growing facility that includes a Primary Care Clinic, opening July 2020.  This benefited position is full-time, 80 hours per pay period, day shift Monday through Friday.  The LCSW provides comprehensive behavioral health services to clinic patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders as part of the holistic approach to care in our patient-centered medical home model. This position works with a broad patient population to assess and decide the best course of treatments based on current clinical research in the social work field.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains standards of excellence in accordance with standards set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, National Association of Social Work, the Joint Commission, National Committee for Quality Assurance, and the policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Receives consults from a multidisciplinary team based on assessment, patient/family requests, physician orders, and multidisciplinary huddles.
  • Assesses and makes clinical evaluations of a patient’s behavioral health and diagnose illness. Incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to include the patient, clinic staff, and patient’s family/significant others to develop and implement a plan to meet the patient’s needs. Facilitates multidisciplinary planning meetings and care conferences.
  • Safely and effectively assesses and decides the best course of treatments based on current clinical research in the social work field. Determines appropriate course of intervention for each patient and schedules with the appropriate provider.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Masters or doctoral degree in social work.
  • 1-2 years related experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Current State of Wisconsin license as a Social Worker – Licensed Clinical.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Black River Memorial Hospital is currently accepting applications for an immediate, full-time opening, in our busy Lab Department at our Critical Access Hospital.   This benefited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) opening is 80 hours per pay period, afternoon shift, working Monday through Friday and on a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.   

The MT/MLT collects and processes specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and accurate and timely reporting of test results.  In addition, it oversees a variety of technical activities and individual section responsibilities to ensure efficient operation of the department.  The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent technical and customer service skills and be team-oriented.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Black River Memorial Hospital is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist in our Rehabilitation Department.  This benefited position will work Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 6-8 hours per day, totaling 40 hours per pay period.   This position plans, evaluates, directs and administers occupational therapy treatment for patients within the scope of their licensure.  The position offers the ability to work with diverse populations including hand injuries, pediatric populations, and employer-based community programs.

SOCIAL WORKER (Full-Time)

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains standards of Social Work excellence in accordance with standards set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, National Association of Social Work, the Joint Commission, and the policies and procedures of the hospital.
  • Receives consults from a multidisciplinary team based on admission assessment, patient/family requests, physicians orders, multidisciplinary discharge planning meetings and outside hospitals. Identifies patients in need of discharge planning during the multidisciplinary meeting.
  • Participates in the multidisciplinary discharge planning process. Incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to include the patient, hospital staff, and patient’s family/significant others to develop and implement a plan to meet the patient’s needs.  Facilitates multidisciplinary discharge planning meetings and care conferences.
  • Documents social work interventions consistent with documentation guidelines.
  • Prepares, maintains and keeps current departmental records, reports, statistics, memos and other documents as required.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
  • Social Work License preferred or have Social Work training certificate and complete all the requirements to obtained Social Work license within 6 month of hire.
  • 1-2 years related experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Current social work certification from the State of Wisconsin.
