WOUND CARE CENTER REGISTERED NURSE

Join our new Wound Care Center at Black River Memorial Hospital.  We are currently accepting applications for a per diem Registered Nurse.  Hours for this position will vary depending on staff and patient needs.  The RN will be responsible for coordinating clinical activities of the Wound Care Center including: planning, implementing, evaluating and providing comprehensive patient care.  This RN position is also responsible for managing available nursing resources and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to provide quality, cost effective patient care.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocol and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver educations related to wound care management, and acts as a patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care.
  • Collaborates with Wound Care Center Coordinator and Medical Director to achieve Would Care Center quality indicators.
  • Provides appropriate infection control measures.
  • Documents according to established standards.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, Associates degree in Nursing or Diploma, RN. BSN preferred.
  • Current licensed Wisconsin RN.
  • Wound Care Certification preferred but not required. If not certified, candidate will be required to obtain wound care certification within one year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT REGISTERED NURSE

Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.  This position is full-time (72 hours per pay period), benefited. The primary working hours are from 5 p.m. – 5 a.m. but may vary occasionally, and includes every third weekend and holiday.  This position plans and provides comprehensive patient care and manages available nursing resources and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to provide quality, cost effective patient care. 

Essential Duties:

  • Provides individualized patient and family focused care throughout the patient’s stay.
  • Evaluates patient assessments and responses to interventions and takes appropriate action according to established standards.
  • Delegates patient care activities to appropriate personnel and maintains accountability for those activities.
  • Initiates effective discharge and referral plans on admission utilizing appropriate hospital and community resources.
  • Accurately and effectively utilizes the patient acuity system to anticipate changes in patient care needs.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Associates degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS required. ENPC and TNCC within one year.
  • Current licensed Wisconsin RN.

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN OR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Black River Memorial Hospital is currently accepting applications for two full-time opening as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) in our busy Lab Department at our Critical Access Hospital.   This positions open are as follows:

  • This benefited position is full-time, work 7 days on, have 7 days off on night shift. 
  • This benefited position is full-time, pm shift, Monday through Friday with a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.

The MT/MLT collects and processes specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and accurate and timely reporting of test results.  In addition, it oversees a variety of technical activities and individual section responsibilities to ensure efficient operation of the department.  The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent technical and customer service skills and be team-oriented.

SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST/CENTRAL PROCESSING TECHNICIAN

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic surgical case preparation, identifying draping, instrumentation, and equipment needs.
  • Identifies educational needs when confronted with new or unfamiliar tasks/duties.
  • Maintains current knowledge and demonstrates competence with core ORT/CST skills.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
  • BLS certification within 6-months.

NUTRITION SERVICES ASSISTANT

 Essential Duties:

  • Assists in preparing and portioning food for patients using room service or scheduled meals, contracted food services, employees and hospital special functions following established policies and procedures.
  • Accurately and appropriately transports scheduled patient meal carts to the patient floor and delivers patient’s room service trays or late trays directly to the patient’s room.  Collects soiled trays from patient rooms and document the amount of food consumed by the patient.
  • Performs various cleaning duties per department protocol.  Keeps work area clean and in a sanitary condition at all times.
  • Follows safe food handling practices.

SURGICAL SERVICES DIRECTOR

Black River Memorial Hospital is recruiting for a Surgical Services Director.  The normal hours of work are days, Monday through Friday.  This is an exempt, full-time position with a generous benefits package.  The Surgical Services Director meets patients, physicians, staff and organization needs by leading, planning, organizing, developing and directing the activities of the Nursing departments.  Uses constructive leadership skills to assist the department in fulfilling the hospitals mission and meet established annual and long-term objectives. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops department goals in conjunction with establishing/implementing/ developing/revising processes policies and procedures for department operations in alignment with the hospital’s strategic goals. Provides leadership, vision, development and implementation of short and long term planning for the organization.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates financial practices and goals according to established standards. Plans, researches and requests purchases for department capital and operational equipment and supplies. 
  • Investigates and takes appropriate timely action(s) to resolve customer concerns, complaints, and problems. Uses the customer service recovery process.
  • Attends educational programs, in services and continuing education opportunities and maintains own education and meeting and attendance records.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Must possess a BSN within one year from date of hire.
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience required, preferred surgical experience.
  • Current Wisconsin RN license.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience required.
  • BLS required.  ACLS required within 1-year of employment.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and proof of insurability.
