As a full-time Housekeeper at Black River Memorial Hospital, you will help to keep our Critical Access Hospital sparkly clean and in tip-top shape.  This 80 hour per pay period position is day shift, Monday through Friday that includes every seventh weekend.  An Environmental Services Housekeeper plays a vital role to ensure every patient, family member, and staff person has a clean, safe, and sanitized environment for healing and exceptional patient care.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Prepares and cleans various types of rooms and floors following specified department protocols and standards.
  • Cleans critical areas such as surgery, delivery rooms, exam rooms and isolation areas following specific protocols.
  • Uses safe methods when handling chemicals and cleaning solutions in daily work practice.

Black River Memorial Hospital has a part-time opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in our Homecare/Hospice Department.  This benefited position is 40 hours per pay period, day shift, fluctuating between Monday through Friday based on census and NP’s preference.   

This position evaluates and treats patients of all ages with severe chronic disease and/or end of life prognosis. In addition, this role completes patient assessments, orders and interprets diagnostic tests and completes or prescribes treatments under the supervising Hospice/Palliative Care Physician.

Essential Duties:

  • Assesses patients of all ages presenting for health care and obtains a personal medical history, appropriate physical examination and completes documentation of same using the hospital’s clinical charting system. Documents or dictates articulate and concise patient care information for the physician and medical record.
  • Performs orders and interprets diagnostic test and patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Instructs and counsels patients and families related to physical/mental health, self-care, medication use and management of symptoms.
  • Works collaboratively with the Homecare/Hospice and Palliative Care Director and other team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the teams. Ensures the care provided to patients meets agency and regulatory standards, quality patient care, and effective and efficient resources utilization.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license from the State of Wisconsin; current board certification or current board certification from ANCC, ANA, or AANP for NP must be achieved within 18 months of hire; and current unrestricted DEA.
  • BLS required
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience required.  Chronic Disease Management, Palliative Care, and/or Hospice experience preferred.
  • Achieves palliative care board certification within five years of employment as Palliative Nurse Practitioner or the applicant must be functioning as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with hospice and palliative advanced nursing practice experience of 500 hours in the most recent 12 months or 1000 in the most recent 24 months.

Black River Memorial Hospital is currently accepting applications for an immediate, full-time opening, in our busy Lab Department at our Critical Access Hospital.   This benefited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) opening is 72 hours per pay period, night shift, working 7 days then 7 days off.   

The MT/MLT collects and processes specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and accurate and timely reporting of test results.  In addition, it oversees a variety of technical activities and individual section responsibilities to ensure efficient operation of the department.

Become a member of the Patient and Family Services team at Black River Memorial Hospital as a Social Worker.  This position plays an important role with our patients and works as part of the total health care team to help meet the social, economic, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families during hospitalization or times of crisis. 

This Social Worker position is non-benefited, part-time, day shift, 24 hours per pay period, with an on-call rotation one weekend a month and one night a week.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains standards of Social Work excellence in accordance with standards set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, National Association of Social Work, the Joint Commission, and the policies and procedures of the hospital.
  • Receives consults from a multidisciplinary team based on admission assessment, patient/family requests, physicians orders, multidisciplinary discharge planning meetings and outside hospitals. Identifies patients in need of discharge planning during the multidisciplinary meeting.
  • Participates in the multidisciplinary discharge planning process. Incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to include the patient, hospital staff, and patient’s family/significant others to develop and implement a plan to meet the patient’s needs.  Facilitates multidisciplinary discharge planning meetings and care conferences.
  • Documents social work interventions consistent with documentation guidelines.
  • Prepares, maintains and keeps current departmental records, reports, statistics, memos and other documents as required.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in social work or related field.
  • 1-2 years related experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Current social work certification from the State of Wisconsin.
