WOUND CARE CENTER REGISTERED NURSE

Join our new Wound Care Center at Black River Memorial Hospital.  We are currently accepting applications for a per diem Registered Nurse.  Hours for this position will vary depending on staff and patient needs.  The RN will be responsible for coordinating clinical activities of the Wound Care Center including: planning, implementing, evaluating and providing comprehensive patient care.  This RN position is also responsible for managing available nursing resources and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to provide quality, cost effective patient care.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocol and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver educations related to wound care management, and acts as a patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care.
  • Collaborates with Wound Care Center Coordinator and Medical Director to achieve Would Care Center quality indicators.
  • Provides appropriate infection control measures.
  • Documents according to established standards.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, Associates degree in Nursing or Diploma, RN. BSN preferred.
  • Current licensed Wisconsin RN.
  • Wound Care Certification preferred but not required. If not certified, candidate will be required to obtain wound care certification within one year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN OR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Black River Memorial Hospital is currently accepting applications for two full-time opening as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) in our busy Lab Department at our Critical Access Hospital.   This positions open are as follows:

  • This benefited position is full-time, work 7 days on, have 7 days off on night shift. 
  • This benefited position is full-time, pm shift, Monday through Friday with a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.

The MT/MLT collects and processes specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and accurate and timely reporting of test results.  In addition, it oversees a variety of technical activities and individual section responsibilities to ensure efficient operation of the department.  The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent technical and customer service skills and be team-oriented.

SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST/CENTRAL PROCESSING TECHNICIAN

  • Accurately and appropriately transports scheduled patient meal carts to the patient floor and delivers patient’s room service trays or late trays directly to the patient’s room.  Collects soiled trays from patient rooms and document the amount of food consumed by the patient.
  • Performs various cleaning duties per department protocol.  Keeps work area clean and in a sanitary condition at all times.
  • Follows safe food handling practices.

DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CT/X-RAY TECH

Black River Memorial Hospital has an opening for a Diagnostic Imaging CT/Radiologic Technologist. This is a full-time benefitted position working 72 hours per pay period, which includes a rotation of every 3rd weekend and every 3rd Thursday. This position is a mix of evenings and nights. The Diagnostic Imaging Radiologic Technologist performs radiology examinations following hospital and radiology standards when ordered by a physician or other allied health practitioners for diagnostic purposes as directed by the Radiologist. 

Essential Duties:

  • Performs radiographic and CT exams on patients.  Provides the best images possible to radiologist and providers for interpretation. 
  • Provides high quality service to customers in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information promptly to appropriate technologist and/or radiologist.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skill and accuracy in the operation and maintenance of all department equipment.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registration as a Radiologic Technologist (American Registry or Radiologic Technology-ARRT) is required within 6-months of employment.
  • Current licensed Wisconsin RT (R) or within 2 months of employment.

Don’t miss this opportunity to join our Environmental Services team!  Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for an Environmental Services Maintenance Mechanic I.  The Maintenance Mechanic uses mechanical, technical, physical and communication skills in order to maintain a safe, reliable and comfortable healthcare environment.  This position is full-time, 80 hours per pay period, 10-hour evening shifts Monday through Thursday along with on-call. 

Essential Duties Include:

  • Performs and/or arranges for corrective and preventive maintenance as needed in the disciplines of electrical, HVAC, communications, boiler/steam, plumbing, hospital equipment and building and grounds.
  • Assists Environmental Services team members as needed.
  • Reads and understands blueprints as an essential part of carrying out work in various disciplines of this position.
  • Responds within 45 minutes to trouble calls when scheduled as the on-call person and addresses with problems upon arrival.
  • Uses safe methods when handling chemicals and cleaning solutions in daily work practices.

Educational Qualifications Include:

  • Associate’s degree in a maintenance field or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; OR may possess two years’ experience in maintenance related field.
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment preferred.
  • General plumbing knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards preferred.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Computer Programs.
  • Maintains alertness to detecting malfunctioning equipment and fire and safety hazards.

  • Per Diem, non-benefited, hours and days for this position vary depending on patient and staffing needs, usually 1 weekend per month.

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts the initial assessment and knowledge of eligibility requirements for admission to the Hospice/Homecare program.
  • Develops an individualized plan of care that respects the patient, family and/or significant other’s wishes and needs.
  • Communicates regularly with physician and team members providing information and documentation regarding the physical, psychosocial and spiritual status of the patient and family. Coaches and/or mentors others in how to communicate clearly and concisely; always communicates changes in patient status utilizing the SBAR format.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Associates degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 1-year nursing experience.
  • Experience with Hospice and/or Homecare preferred.
  • Must have valid WI driver's license, proof of insurability and reliable transportation.
  • BLS within 6-months of employment.
  • Current Wisconsin RN License.
